REVIEW: PARIS FASHION WEEK FW23 | Off-White

When it was announced that Ibrahim Kamara would succeed the late Virgil Abloh as the new image and art director for Off-White, we all wondered how Kamara would be able to fill such big shoes.

Virgil Abloh was a creative superstar that created magic with each of his collections so it was apparent that Ibrahim Kamara would have to come in with a bang. From the moment I saw the Off-White Fall 2023 RTW collection I knew Kamara hit the mark in every way possible. Sky was surely not the limit with this collection as each garment had a clear influence of space and astronomy that was out of this world.

Garments included space-black blouses and blazers that stench in the waist and featured gleaming metal grommets and rubberized outerwear in bold prints. Of course who could forget the tire-necked dress worn by the icon Naomi Campbell and tire-topped mini-pannier, tire print shorts, wheeled eyelet earrings, tire bracelets and indicator light shoes.

The garments were rich in color with copper tones, mustard yellows, deep reds, burgundy and navy blues that followed behind garments that were bold in their black on black. You could absolutely see the West African influence in color palette, patterns and fabric while still being able to achieve the signature Off-White aesthetic in style and design.

When speaking with Vogue on the direction and “destination” of the Fall 2023 RTW collection, Kamara stated “Punk, romantic, sexy, those are the three words I keep coming back to.”

Ibrahim Kamara definitely hit the mark and gave everyone the excitement that was needed during Paris Fashion Week. After witnessing this collection, I know for sure Off-White is in good hands.
