ABOUT

THE BALDWIN is a Black-owned multimedia publication based in New York City. We cover social justice through the lens of culture as it manifests through politics, travel, style, and entertainment.

Our publication was birthed as a collaboration with Medium.com and has risen to an outlet with 80.000+ unique visitors weekly. Our newsletter features some of the best content and curated product delivered to our subscribers and tastemakers at the top of the month.

The publication is named for famed writer James Baldwin who championed social justice through writing and knowledge of self. It is in this vein—specifically journalism, and several mediums of storytelling, that we seek to tell our stories with justice, grace, and truth.

CONTRIBUTE

Thank you for thinking of us. THE BALDWIN is a growing publication of innovators and forward thinkers pushing for truth through journalism and social justice.

WRITING
We are thrilled that you are considering writing for THE BALDWIN. Our publication seeks to tell our stories—Black stories, with justice, grace, and truth.

We are currently looking for columns (essays and opinion pieces that range between 600-800 words) about current trending (in the headlines) stories that impact the Black community. Example: Voter Suppression Aims to Block Those Without Proper IDs

We are open to pitches for any sections. Inquire about word length in your pitch. If you’d like to cover an event for us, please email us with the date of the event in the body of the email.

Your pitch should be no more than 150 words. Address your pitch to “The Editors” at [email protected]

PHOTOGRAPHY
We are always looking for photographers to add to our team of visual artists. We are especially looking for photo essays and fashion stories. If you’re working with a team, we are willing to supply an LOR or Letter of Assignment. Submit inquiries to [email protected]

PUBLICISTS
We are open to pitches from publicists. Please provide background on your client and/or product and if you are on deadline, please state that in the subject line. Submit inquiries to [email protected]
