Fashion Editor Keyonna Butler reports from the Mugler X H&M event in New York City
The most anticipated fashion collaboration of 2023 will be hitting racks sooner than you think. Mugler x H&M long awaited collaboration will be hitting H&M racks and online on May 11th and to celebrate the release, the two brands hosted a star-studded event which acted as a fashion show, concert, and party all taking place no where else but New York City.
Fashion and the pop culture elite gathered at Park Avenue Armory for the debut of the H&M Mugler collection designed by Casey Cadwallader. The event featured performances by Shygirl, Amaarae and Eartheater and A-list celebs such as Pamela Anderson, Charli XCX, Chloë Sevigny, Lourdes Leon and Dominique Jackson who were all in attendance to see the collection up close and in person.
Besides creating a concert with a lineup that rivals Coachella, the launch event also featured a runway show that showcased the eccentric designs ahead of its release in May. The event was curated to not just be your typical fashion show where you come to see the fashion then head to the next fashion show but instead it was intended to create a community within fashion which was accomplished by” bringing together sound, style, live performance, club culture and dance”.
Casey Cadwallader, creative director of Mugler, has this to say about the celebration for the upcoming collection, “Mugler has always been a house with a lot of cultural soul, and this event was a celebration of our long association with music, dance and performance. The rollout for the Muglar x H&M has been such a great way of expression through fashion, style, music and multimedia that I think a lot of brands should take notes on. This celebration was just the icing on the cake of what will be a phenomenal partnership between Mugler x H&M. I’m sure we will be waiting on pins and needles until the launch of the collection on May 11th.
