Democratic Senate hopeful Charles Booker is the first Black nominee for Kentucky and the incumbent is wasting no time shocking the people — and with good reason. Senior Editor James R. Sanders reports.
Charles Booker is making history is more ways than one. The democratic nominee for senate in Kentucky is the first Black man to run. But what’s even more shocking is his latest campaign ad, aimed at Rand Paul where he’s wearing a noose.
Here’s some background.
The Emmett Till bill — otherwise known as the anti-lynching bill was opposed by three republicans in March, though it still passed. Rand Paul (R-Ky) is credited as singlehandedly stopping the bill months before George Floyd was murdered by opposing it in the senate.
He is up for reelection this year and running against Charles Booker. It should be noted that the version of the bill in March, which makes a hate crime punishable with 30 years in prison was supported by Paul.
